BOSS Tele-Success Series Featuring Actress Kim Coles

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

I was grateful to participate in the BOSS Tele-Success Series last week featuring actress Kim Coles.  This was a conference call hosted by the BOSS Network for its members and those who are interested in becoming a member of the BOSS Network.  I am currently not a member, but I have been doing research on the network and I am definitely interested in becoming a part of this powerful women's organization.

BOSS stands for "Bringing Out Successful Sisters," and their mission is to promote and encourage the small business spirit and career development of women.  It is an online community of professional and entrepreneurial women who support each other through conversation, online and event-based networking.  If you have a moment, definitely visit the BOSS Network online and learn more about their purpose and mission.

The BOSS Tele-Success Series featuring actress Kim Coles was truly inspiring and offered universal tips and tools to use as an entrepreneur.  Kim Coles is an actress and comedian, best known for her role as Synclaire James on the 90's hit sitcom Living Single.  Coles has also appeared on many television shows including Frasier, Six Feet Under, Celebrity Mole, and The Geena Davis Show.  She has now launched her GPS - Gratitude, Passion, Success Program online at kimcolesgps.com, which is a six week mastermind which takes women on a journey to a better YOU.  This mastermind includes a VIP one on one call with Kim Coles, a private mastermind Facebook group, coaching, support group calls, along with monthly calls and emails.

I took away a lot of valuable lessons from this BOSS Tele-Success Series call which served as motivation and encouragement on all levels.  I am happy to share a few of these tidbits with you all and I hope you feel encouraged on your journey to success!

The "Who Is" Lesson:

  • Know who you are and what you stand for.  Your core values that cannot be shaken and what is considered right or wrong for YOU.  Draw a line and do not cross it.
  • The "Who Is" Exercise:  When experiencing the levels of success in your career, try this exercise by filling in the blanks with your name.
    • Who is ______?  Introducing _____!  Can you get me _____.  Can you get me a cheaper _____?  We want a younger _____.  Who is _____?
    • When you fill in the blanks with your name, and study the context behind each statement, no matter which industry you are employed, these levels of success will come and go.  You will start off fresh, and the new commodity that people are eager to meet and work with and they will want to know more - "Who is _____?"  and "Introducing _____!"  Soon enough with true success, people with seek out your brand and request "Can you get me _____."  Of course over time, there will be a demand for a younger, cheaper version of you and what you offer.  Which in essence leads back to the very first question of who are you?  "Who is _____?"
  • Knowing that these things are coming on your journey to success will give you the strength you need and prepare you to not be afraid and stay focused no matter what the demand.  Be clear about who you are so that when you walk in a room your light will shine no matter what they are looking for or who they are looking for.  Stay true to yourself!

GPS - Gratitude, Passion, Success:

When you think about a GPS system, you think about direction and a path to get to an intended destination.  Kim Coles' GPS - Gratitude, Passion, Success mastermind offers just that, direction and guidance on your journey in life to success and a better YOU.

  • Gratitude:  Being grateful for the things you have in order to make room for more.  Keep a gratitude journal and study each day.  God will move in your life and you will be amazed at how much happier you will be and how much MORE you will have.
  • Passion:  You should do the thing in life that you are passionate about.  Don't be afraid to risk for your passion and that thing that lights up your soul!  The world will line up to meet you when you do your purpose and passion.
  • Success:  Success is about knowing who you are and feeling good about yourself.  Success is creating a legacy for your children and those around you.  A successful woman feels the success on the inside and it permeates outside.  Success is HAPPINESS!

Get Ready With Me ~ Dinner Date!

Sunday, February 22, 2015

Heyyyyy beauties!!!

First of all let me start by saying that I recently purchased Michael Jackson's Thriller album and I have been jamming to MJ hits all weekend!  This album really takes me back to my childhood.  I LOVE MJ!!!  Greatest of all times and always missed....

So I wanted to do a get ready with me post today as I have been wanting to do one for a while now.  We went out to dinner at Carrabas Saturday night with some friends and had a great time!  I always love hanging out with great people and a great meal always tops it off!

I absolutely love getting ready for these occasions.  Whether its a Sunday brunch with the ladies or a night out with my husband and friends, picking out an outfit and doing hair and makeup is a fun thing for me and I always look forward to it!  I definitely keep it quick and simple when it comes to my makeup and getting ready.  I am learning more and more about makeup and little tips and tricks, so I like playing around with different makeup products to see what I can come up with, but the end result is always quick and simple, yet FANTABULOUS!

Hope you all enjoy!!!

I always start off by moisturizing my face and using a primer

"Snow Beauties"

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

It's fair to say that this winter has been a winter to remember here in the U.S.  With record snow plummeting the northeast this season, children and adults have been confined to their homes for days at a time.  Here in the south, the entire city shuts down with as little as an inch or two of snow!  Today was a snow day here in the Carolinas.  An ice storm hit along with about an inch of snow and schools and companies have either been delayed or shut down for the day.  Oh what to do with myself.....

Having a snow day here in the south is something we look forward to, something we actually pray for to be honest!  However, I couldn't imagine being cooped up in the house for days or weeks at a time.  That is unheard of for someone like me born and raised in the south.  My heart goes out to those in the northeast who have been at war with mother nature this season....

~ SNOW BEAUTIES ~

Looking on the bright side of things, snow can be a beautiful thing.  If you find yourself snowed in this season, below are a few ideas of things to do while snowed in!

1.  Read a good book
Nothing like cozying up on the couch with a warm blanket and your favorite book on a snow day.  When I'm snowed in, this is my time to get some much needed reading in....

2.  Watch your favorite movie
I love a good "chic flick" and I usually watch them back to back when I am cooped up in the house.  I enjoy having my very own "chic flick" marathon!

3.  Play outside in the snow
Go ahead and be free and let the inner kid in you come out!  Be creative and build a snow man, make snow angels or throw snow balls.  At least you are being active....

4.  Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate
I love warm drinks, especially when its super cold outside or snowing....

5.  Regroup and Game Plan!
With normal day to day tasks, sometimes its hard to find time to sit down and actually take time to think things through and game plan...Make goals and write out everything that needs to be done.  When you are snowed in, you have all the time in the world to get things in order and prioritize.

6.  Do chores around the house
I don't know about you but there is always work that needs to be done around the house.  Again, with working full time, blogging part time, being a wife and mother - sometimes its hard to juggle it all and find time to get everything done.  A snow day is the perfect time for me to get some much needed chores around the house done.  A snow day = a clean house for me!

7.  Blog!
For all of you bloggers out there, no explanation needed on this one.  Just take time and do what you love - Blog!

8.  Rest
Last but not least, take time for yourself and REST.  Especially if you are always on the go with work or school and the normal daily activities in your life.  If you find yourself snowed in, just relax and rest.  Your body will love you for it!

Hope you all stay warm and safe this winter season!!

Until Next Time......

Valentine's Day Lunch & Movie ~ OOTD

Saturday, February 14, 2015

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Today was such a lovely day.....Valentine's Day!!
My hubby surprised me with a special lunch and movie with a group of friends and we all had a blast!  We saw Fifty Shades of Grey and that movie was OMG!  I really have no words to describe the movie....All I can say is OMG!  Of course if you have read the book, you have an idea of what this movie is all about.  Powerful, dominating, hard core SEX!  I would say that the movie did an alright job of telling the story.  For me, reading a book is always better than watching the movie, but definitely go check out the movie if you haven't had the chance and let me know what you think.  I will say that the ending is a BIG cliff hanger to say the very least.  I mean BIG cliff hanger, they pretty much left us out there to hang dry....Needless to say, the movie was entertaining and I had a great time with some great friends!

Top:  Rue 21
Scarf:  Maurices
Jeans:  Forever 21
Boots:  Uggs

I kept it simple with the outfit.  I really like this heart top from Rue 21 as it put me in the mood for Valentine's Day.  My pink Uggs are so comfortable and go well with any jeans on any given day.  Let's just say I had a very comfortable day!

Hope you all enjoyed your Valentine's Day!
